Frequently asked questions

Does this really process on a server, not in my browser?

Yes — this is one of the few tools on the site where conversion happens on a server (it's the only reliable way to parse complex PDF layouts). The file is deleted right after the result is sent back to your browser — see the Privacy Policy for details.

Is the layout always preserved perfectly?

For text-based PDFs (not scans), the result is usually very close to the original. Complex multi-column layouts or overlapping elements may need small manual touch-ups in Word.

Does it work on scanned PDFs (image-only)?

This tool is built for text-based PDFs. Scanned documents with no text layer have no text to extract — they'd need separate OCR recognition first.
